SEOUL, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Olympic champion Janja Garnbret of Slovenia completed a golden double by winning the women's boulder title on Saturday, adding to her lead gold from the previous day at the 2025 IFSC Climbing World Championships.
The Slovenian climber claimed her fourth boulder world title and the 10th World Championship gold of her career, overcoming a strong challenge from France's Oriane Bertone who took silver. Melina Costanza of the United States earned bronze.
Garnbret secured victory with a final score of 99.5 points after topping the last boulder under pressure, while Bertone finished with 85 points after narrowly missing the top on the final move.
"It's incredible, honestly. Today I just climbed with my heart today," said Garnbret. "I felt kind of empty from yesterday's lead semi and final, but I really just focused on myself and my climbing and luckily it worked out."
Costanza claimed bronze with 59.8 points in her first World Championships appearance since 2022, flashing the third boulder in the final.
In the semifinal, China's Zhang Yuetong finished 10th with a score of 54.6 points. The Chinese climber reached scoring zones on the first, second and fourth routes, and completed the third route.
"I couldn't perform at my full level on the first two routes today," Zhang acknowledged being affected by the previous day's lead event. "I had considered alternative beta for route two, but was too exhausted to attempt it."
"My current capacity doesn't allow me to excel in both lead and boulder simultaneously," Zhang said, adding that she will now focus on preparations for China's National Games.
The competition will wrap up with the men's boulder semifinal and final on Sunday. ■
